Welcome to the Runner Dude Fitness Home Page!

Here you'll find what I believe to be the best philosophy when it comes to fitness, weight loss and training. You can run a marathon and not be able to bench press 100 pounds or touch your toes. This is not being fit. Or you may be able to squat 450 pounds and not be able to run more than a mile. To be fit means that you have muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and a strong cardiovascular system. Your body composition needs to be lean and mean so your heart doesn't have to work any harder than it needs to. Here's where nutrition comes in. You have to fuel your body properly so you can gain strength and endurance. Even if you do all these things properly and don't rest enough, you can still end up unfit and hurt.

I can offer the kind of training you'll need to succeed in your fitness endeavor whatever it is.   Many people will spend thousands of dollars on their beds, teeth, doctor's visits and   recliners when all they need to do is get off the couch and do something, anything, that will burn a few more calories each day. They'll be able to sleep better and do their activities of daily living (ADL's) with ease and comfort. In doing so they will automatically sleep better, and in turn will feel better, no matter what their age. Getting started is the hard part. And knowing what to do is even harder. There are so many options available for working out that you don't know where to start. It all depends on what you are looking to do for yourself. I can help you with all the different choices.

This site is new and there is not a whole lot to it yet but I will   be working on it a day or two   each month   to get it up and running where I want it so check back soon to see what else there is to offer. Feel free to offer constructive suggestions in the   Feedback area. I don't mind the help. If you know of someone who needs or wants a personal trainer or a distance running coach, send them a link to this site or just click on the Tell-a-friend button at the bottom of this page. If the button does not work, send them a link to the site. Thanks for looking around.

Do yourself a favor and start getting fit today. Along with getting fit will be weight loss. In order to lose weight you must burn more calories than you take in. To lose a pound of fat you need to burn 3500 calories. Your body can only lose so many calories per day and then it starts to feed off of itself. The best way to lose weight is to cut back on 500 calories per day and to burn an extra 500 calories per day exercising. Your calorie expenditure wants to be in the form of long, slow workouts to lose fat. When your heart rate gets over about 75% of your max heart rate, you are burning more sugar than fat. This process will give you a net loss of 2 pounds per week. Along with knowing what to eat and just as important for weight loss and weight control is knowing when to eat. Two hours before a workout is a good time to add 200 - 300 calories in the form of complex carbohydrates. After your workout there is a 30 minute to 2 hour window that is the best time to eat. This is when your body is in "after burn" mode. It is still revved up from the workout and is burning the calories soon after they are ingested. Whatever you do, you Do Not want to not eat. This puts your body in starvation mode and it stores all the calories that it can. It also starts to feed off of itself when nothing is coming in and you start to lose muscle and bone. Not a good thing. So you can see that losing weight is tough and not as easy as just not eating. That will be worse for you than being too heavy. Exercise needs to be in the equation also so that you are building muscle and losing adipose tissue at the same time. So let's get you started today and in 3 months you'll be down 24 lbs! Your life will be so much better when you're fit and healthy.

While all this is true and I know all of it is factual, this web site has generated O, Nix, Nil, None personal training or coaching jobs. Therefore I'm going to say what I think. All you fat, lazy people with no get-up-and-go need to get your collective asses off the couch and get busy with some calorie burning exercises. Put down the rack of ribs, wings, ice cream, candy, beer, etc. and turn off the damn TV and computer. You look like hell and are costing those of us with a passion for fitness money in higher insurance rates. Get out of your comfort zone for a measley 30 minutes per day and do something where you have to move your fat ass from point A to point B. Building a little strength and endurance is more than lifting and pounding down a can of beer 24 times. Everyone who says they can't run are full of crap. Running does NOT hurt your knees unless there is something already wrong with them. Your back hurts because you have no strength in it or your hips have no mobility. A bar stool or couch are not going to fix anything either. Ladies, it's not your clothes that make you look fat, it's your blubber. Men, you don't look good with all the overhang overhanging your belt and no you still don't "have it." Your spouse will love you no matter what but why should they have to look at your lard ass coming out of the shower or getting dressed? If you can't get into an airline seat, then you should have to pay for another seat to accommodate your axe handle size butt. While the fashion models might not be a realistic look for most people, most people don't have to be over weight or obese. Try a little self control and put down that Twinkie and walk away. Exercise can be fun and so can a 5K or 1/2 marathon, but first you have to get off the couch. Thousands of people do it every year and so can you. Your lard and laziness are not "worse" than someone else's. It took strength and effort for them to do it too. The contestants on The Biggest Loser look like hell but at least they are doing something about it. What are you doing? If you are running, how's it going? Are you getting better without getting hurt? Are you getting stronger, bigger, faster? If not, why not? Are you by chance listening to Mr. Knowitall over there in the gym or at the training runs? Does he actually know something or is it something he read in Runner's World or Muscle that he figures is true for everybody? If you don't like what I'm saying, please call me and tell me. I'd sure like my phone to ring for something beside a boot camp class or wrong number! You should be pissed. It's really wrong that I care more about your health and appearance than you do. Maybe you should also work on what you want the preacher to say at your early funeral to your friends, family, and especially your kids about why mom or dad had to die so soon. A couple things to think about. If the people in the right lane are going as fast or faster than you, get the hell over to the right lane. I don't care what color or religion the president is as long as he keeps money in my pocket and America safe. If you don't like something, then change or help change it and quit bitching about it. We have enough drones.
